Whenever i try to open desktop configure settings it crashes and also using shortcuts alt+s/d it crashes every time leaving a blank black screen.

You can try (re)starting plasmashell from the command-line, reproduce the issue and then copy whatever messages pop up when it crashes, which may be useful in identifying the problem.
