[Solved] Placement of the plasmoid & panel-configuration button in 4.1

I reconfigured my panels a bit, so the little button which is used to configure the plasmoids kind of hangs in thin air in the upper right corner (see screenshot below), unfortunatly i do not know what the button is called, so i couldn't search the forums for a problem sollution either.

Is there any way to configure it, so it will sit i.e. in the lower left corner, or that it would not honour the panel, and sit in the top right again?

I think they call it "The Peanut". Probably because it looks a little bit like one. :-S

I don't know of anyway to change its location. I think there is something on kde-look.org to remove it (it is actually a plasmoid to cover it, I think).

No, you can't really configure it in 4.1 (in 4.2 you can drag it around)

You can, however, remove it with this plasmoid.

The reason it has been bumped down from its normal top right corner is because you have a panel on the top. If your panel extended all the way across then it would normally cover the cashew completely, so they made it drop down by the panels height when it is present.

However, it shouldn't drop down when the panel isn't going to cover it though.

I know it was bumped down because of the panel, but the panel is about as big as it gets (maxsize wise), so the cashew could detect that and jump up again.
Well, I guess I'll try the cashew-remover-plasmoid, although I would like it better if I could move it.
Well next KDE Version, then, until I can install that it will have to go...

Thanks for the help, everyone!

It work for me fine here. Can be a bug in your case.
Also, try this: Unlock your widgets. Right click on the panel, select Panel Options -> Panel Settings. In the floating bar that appears, click on "More Settings" and select "Windows can cover" or "Auto hide".
Check if this does any good.

Well. I do not have a "more settings" button in the appearing bar. Seems like I will have to wait for Debian to package a more recent version.
I'll mark this as solved now, thank you.

The "More settings" button was added in KDE 4.2 for those who are confused, and now backported by many distros ( OpenSUSE, etc )
