whats with the really really strange idea to put the file operations into this new notification area.. first of all this "new feature" that pops up in the systray doesn't work reliable and has big problems with themes... oke.. ist beta..
but if you click on it to monitor the progress of an action and then click somewhere else it disappears.. how am i supposed to know if the copy process is finished ??????????? it's a nice idea for kopete et. al. but why in the hell dolphin?????? i want my sepreate window for every copy/move process back.. is this a feature or a bug???

It's a feature There is a way to turn it off. Not yet through the GUI though. You need to manually edit ~/.kde4/share/config/plasma-appletsrc You need to add the following: [AppletGlobals][plasma_applet_systemtray] ShowJobs=false And restart plasma. As I haven't tried this myself (only read it on a blog), I assume it will turn off the new kind of notification for all KDE apps, not only file-copying. That is, Kopete wouldn't use it either if you decide to enable this. Still, if all you want to do is to see when a copy has finished there's no need to change this. Take a closer look at the systray next time you copy something. You'll notice that there's a small computer-icon added. Click on it and the progress-bars reappear. Personally, I love the new progressbar! It's great to not have anything cluttering up the desktop when something you know will take quite while to finish is in process (say copying a couple of .iso images for example).

oke thx.. if the icon in the systray only would stay there i think i gonna like it too...
but.. that icon (the small computer) is the problem.. i know that i can click on it to follow the copy progress but when i klick somewhereelse to resume my work it disappears .. totally.. but the copyprozess continues.. i have to compare filesizes and listen to my harddisk to know that it's finished...

Given that future 4.2 users may wish to disable this feature, I am sticking this thread and moving it into Plasma.

i think that it's no longer relevant in 4.3, plus we have the gui to configure it easily accessible. i hereby ask it to be unstickied
