I have looked around, but can't find a way to hide the taskbar as in previous versions of KDE. I do a lot of graphic arts and photo editing, and I do not want to give away any real estate to a taskbar/panel that I don't need or want while I'm working. Is there any way to hide it in KDE 4?
One other annoyance I have found is that the icons in the taskbar can no longer be moved around. While annoying, I can learn to live with everything being on the right side now, and static. Thanks, --- Jem |

I'm running a 4.2beta and it hides: panel settings (bottom cashew) -> more settings -> auto hide
when bottom cashew is clicked panel icons can be moved there is a kde4 faq, that explains all this |

The "Forum" category is for threads about this forum itself, while all other categories ( except "News & Releases" ) are for the support of users using KDE software. This thread has been moved appropriately.

Thanks, I found how to move the icons, but this version (4.1.2 that shipped with kubuntu 8.10) does not have a "more settings" option when in the configuration (clicked cashew). I'll look around a bit more. |

"More settings" was introduced in KDE 4.2
You can check under Panel Settings in the context menu of the panel. If it's not there, then you may have to upgrade to KDE 4.2 beta to have it! (Afaik, 4.1 did not have panel autohide)

Thanks, I got 4.2 beta and it does indeed have more options. Now I'm happy again.
