[SOLVED] How to change Icon Theme

Sat Jan 10, 2009 12:02 pm
Hello

I use openSUSE 11.0 and KDE 4.1.3 - there is an weather plasmoid (Wetterbericht) no more Info about it (it is Not yaWP, nor the one which is named ("Wetter") . Unfortunately I can not upload picture to an url sorry.
I like to change the icon set - the question is how do I find a fitting icon set?

Thanks a lot
Michael

Look into System Settings -> Appearance -> Icons and click "Get new themes"

Thanks,

the icon theme which the plasmoid needs might be a different one since the weather icons are not in the system theme..
I have tried to find more info about the plasmoid but with no luck - just it is in the 4.1.3 standard available..

Michael :-)

In that case, you may consider adding it to the missing icons here: http://techbase.kde.org/Projects/Oxygen ... sing_Icons

Hello

can you, or someone, tell me how I can attach a screenshot - this might explain more than 100 words.

Thanks,
Michael

You could upload your image here :
http://imageshack.us/

Then give us the link. I think the forum doesn't allow us to upload attachements.

Do you have an option to choose PNG files?
In this case, you can find the oxygen icons in folder /usr/share/icons/oxygen

I am sorry I only can choose svg files. An other question is which conventions need to be fullfilled? For sure the plasmoid expects certain names - but which? I have no idea how to find out more about the plasmoid - a glance on the code would help :-)))

Which names are you refering to? Icon names? Well, you can actually download *any* SVG file and use it there.
Plus, you can find SVG files in /usr/share/icons/oxygen/scalable folder (subfolders). You can try using any of them.
As I myself don't have the plasmoid, I don't know what icon is changed when you set a new icon from it's settings.

Thanks a lot

I just had a view on the changelog for 4.2 and there many plasmoids also a weather plasmoid which seems to be much better than the current one. I guess I save the time at this point and wait for 4.2.

Thanks again !
Michael
