OK, just by coincidence I have found a rootcause. It is an fornt without antialiasing - helvetica in my case. If I choose some font ("general font" in configuration dialog) which is using antialiasing like DejaVu Sans "Add Widget" dialog and Lancelot fonts are fine.

Now the question is if it is a KDE4 bug, X.org bug, NVidia bug or just wrong setup in my system.

Can anybody reproduce this problem?

You forgot to add to the list Qt bug :)

TBH, I have absolutely no idea, it happened in all KDE 4.x (in Lancelot) but why, that is a completely different question. The fact that the applet browser exhibits the same problem could possibly lead to the source. I'll add it on my already-too-long-TODO-list :/
