Ok, I am becoming more and more frustrated by the minute with this. As a brief overview of the situation, I read that lancelot "ships with" KDE 4.2 so I searched for it and got no results. Not as an app, not as a widget. I went to their site and followed their installation instructions and it did not finish installing. I installed lancelot through Synaptic and it said it installed, but nothing shows up. Now there is an executable in my /etc folder called "lancelot" but it does nothing. Nothing shows up in my menu bar. I run "lancelot" in the terminal and get no errors. I am running kubuntu 8.10 on a Macbook 2,1 (if that is of any significance). Please assist me here; any help is greatly appreciated.

Lancelot can be add through the Add Widget dialog, and shipped with KDE 4.2 as part of the kdeplasma-addons module. Try running this command to ensure that all KDE components ( including Lancelot, and other 3rd party addons ) are detected:
KDE Sysadmin
