Hello
I've just installed KDE4.2 (on Debian linux) and am now wondering how to integrate my beloved xstarfish, a command line tool that generates beautifull random wallpapers using mathematical functions. Surely I could let it write files with alternating names to a directory via cronjob and let KDE use this directory as source for a "slideshow" background - but this would really be old school style and I heard that this new KDE4 plasma thing kan do everyhing When I open "Appearance Settings" I can currently choose from the Wallpaper types color, image and slideshow. How to get a "xstarfish" in there so that every average linux user can simply activate it? Do I have to write a "plasmoid" (read the term somewhere)? If so can someone recommend me something similar that could be taken as template? bye, -christian- |

You should probably write a Plasma wallpaper plugin. If you know C++ you can check how the ones in kdebase/workspace/plasma/wallpapers/ and playground/base/plasma/wallpapers. are written.
