Peace all!
First and foremost, I have to highlight that this only occurs when I set the desktop as a folder view. Then, try to rename any file using the shortcut "F2". http://s3.supload.com/free/Plasma_-_Amb ... cuts/view/ Plasma complains that the shortcut is ambiguous. At first, I thought some other event is tied to the shortcut which is not usually possible since afaik, KDE checks for conflicts before asigning. Anyhow, I went to the keyboards and mouse section in system settings and filtered/searched for "F2" and " rename" in all the sections under Global/Standard Keyboard Shortcuts. Weird thing is I couldn't even find a "rename" in plasma or KWin. I would appreciate it if anyone could simulate the above in your setup. Just right click the desktop, go to appearance settings and set it to folder view. Then, try to rename any of the files using "F2". Thanks in advance! |

Works fine on my Trunk installation. Ensure that you do not have any other folderviews active on your desktop, since they will likely conflict.

Oh, I can't have any folderviews on the desktop if it is set as one? Everything seems to work fine except this though. I can rename fine with the right click context menu option. The Shortkey besides the option also says "F2" |

Two Folderviews (one as desktop) works fine for me. It could be that it's been fixed in trunk. Unfortunately I can't test on my KDE 4.2 machine, as it's currently on service.

* bcooksley was just guessing that having two folderviews could cause the problem, which it doesn't seem to.

I had the same issue. In addition, shift+del was also treated as ambiguous.
Removing the second instance of 'Folder View' widget fixed both of them. fc11 KDE 4.2.4 Folder View 1.0 Edit: addition of a new 'Folder View' and performing some action on it (moving or clicking a file) triggers the bug Edit2: fixed after upgrading to KDE 4.3.0 |
