Does anyone know how to make the classic menu semi-transparent?

I'm sure it was an obvious setting under kde3.5 but I just can't find it in kde4 - am I being blind?

It's not easily possible, we've removed this kind of hack for KDE 4 as we can now use real transparency. (Not "screenshot as background but blended" translucency.) So if you use a style that uses translucency, you'll get translucent menus (such as the classic one) automatically.

The good news is that you're not blind. :-)

Actually it's possible but you have to enable the Kwin effects. Then you can set the transparency effect in Desktop settings
