What debug programs am I missing?

Wed Jun 17, 2009 9:17 pm
I have Opensuse 11.1 KDE 4.3 Beta
When I use Sunbird I get a crash notification & the send a bug report request.
Now I'd like to help make my favorite DE better & send the bug report.
When I click the Next button I get a note stating that the report may not be complete.
IIRC a ?? in front of a line means that some debug program is missing.
I've installed debugs yet still I get these in the crash report:
?? () from /usr/lib64/libkdeinit4_plasma-desktop.so
?? () from /usr/lib64/libkdeui.so.5
?? () from /usr/lib64/libtaskmanager.so.4
?? () from /usr/lib64/libxine.so.1
What debugs am I missing?

That appears to be a Xine related crash in Phonon. Please install Qt, KDELibs, Phonon, Plasma debug packages.

Thank you bcooksley,
It turns out the ones I was missing the plasma & KDElibs for the 32 system. I had thought that since I had a 64 system I didn't need the 32, apparently I do. Also thanks for pointing out the plasma debug until your post I'd never noticed it.
Haven't had that bug since yesterday, but I just might be ready for the next.

Quick question, will installing the debug versions affect the performance of my laptop? I'd like to be able to send crash reports, but if it's going to slow my laptop to a crawl...

Debug packages usually have the debugging information stored in seperate files. Therefore it should not affect the performance of your system ( except when generating a backtrace of course )
