in KDE 3.5 there was easily configurable option for recently used documents and apps in KDE menu.
Is there anything symilar in KDE 4.2.4 Thanks |

I believe the option exists to clear Recent documents and programs, but it is only available in Kickoff.

thank you for the replay.
It looks like security issue and also loss of functionality when compared to kde 3.5.x |

in kde 3.5.x one could set up recent documents not to be created at all (recent documents option set to 0).
Otherwise this is security issue . in kde 4.x the only way to do this would be to right click on the tab and select "clear recent documents" this is step back from kde 3.5.x because now each time you access sensitive documents, in kde 4, you need to clean up "Recently Used" tab |

@broch you should post a request to the devs on https://bugs.kde.org/ as there doesn't currently see to be one

thanks,
I was not sure if this is missing feature or I can't find the option. I did not want to request option which is available already. |

I added feature request to bugs.kde.org:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=198658 however it seems from some comments that the trend is to "dumb down" kde, gnome style. This sad tendency I can see comparing fantastic usability of kde 3.5 to the poverty of configuration options in kde 4 So I doubt that this feature will be ever added. |

solution: type in terminal
rm ~/.kde/share/apps/RecentDocuments/*&&chmod 000 ~/.kde/share/apps/RecentDocuments |
