Hello all,
I am having problems with the pager not keeping the 2 row setting and displaying in a single row after a reboot/logout. I set the panel to auto hide and made it a little higher. I even tried to make the file ~/.kde4/share/config/plasma-appletsrc read only and it ignored the file and still set it to a single row! Can anyone help me fix this so it keeps the 2 row setting? Thanks in advance, CharlieB |

Have you ticked "Force Row Settings" in its settings?

I don't see an option for "force row settings" for the pager. Just for the task manager (which is set by the way).
I forgot to mention in my original post that the pager loses the 2 row setting about half the time. It does keep it sometimes. It is very strange. Also somehow I had 2 pagers (only 1 was visible) and had to edit the plasma-appletsrc file by hand to remove the other one. Any ideas? Thanks again. |

Which KDE version do you use? You should have a "Number of rows" option in the Pager Settings dialog (and it works for me).

I use KDE 4.2.2. Yes I have the "number of rows" setting but it won't stick between reboots at times.

I guess no one else is having this problem
What file(s) is this setting stored in so I can make it read only. I tried the file plasma-appletsrc. |

That is the file in question. It is probably a bug, however it could be fixed in 4.3, so please update and re-test when it is released.

If I make that file read only again, is there a way to make plasma read it again from the command line? I'm thinking of making a startup script that forces plasma to read the file.

I do not know if that is possible. You may wish to check its D-Bus interface using QDBusViewer

When I quit and restart plasma the pager is at the correct setting. However when restarting plasma I get this:
Any idea what that could mean? Maybe the problem would be fixed if those errors could be fixed? |

Those errors are non fatal, and could be related to any of the Applets you use. They are likely unrelated to the problem.

You are not the only one; I experience the same problem (about 40-50% of the time the pagers 2 rows suddenly turns into one. I am also seeing a probably related problems of the pager sometimes getting confused thinking I only have one virtual desktop. I then have to add another desktop to force an update, and then decrease again. Annoying bug.

I have the same problem in 4.7.2.
I have nine workspaces configured in a 3x3 grid with 3 columns and 3 rows. There is an intermittent problem: when I reboot sometimes the pager starts up with 2 rows (six desktops in the first row and three in the second). When I visit the pager settings dialog, the dialog shows the correct number of rows, i.e. 3. I have to reconfigure it with 2 rows, apply settings, and then reconfigure it with 3 rows in order to recover the original configuration. Should I file a bug report? |

I have this problem on 4.7.4 too, but with a funny effect: I use a vertical panel with the pager configured as one column, four rows, but sometimes when I log-in to the system this change to one row only
not very useful...

I would recommend filing a bug in this case, it is possibly a setting which is not being saved or loaded correctly, and just being saved in internal state.
