I've had quite a bit of plasma problems recently, but this one I can't find any information on. I first noticed it when I attempted to change an icon of a widget on a panel. I went to Other and then clicked on browse to select a different icon. At that point it lagged up and plasma crashed. I tried it again multiple times each time resulting in plasma crashing.
Other areas affected by this are Adding Widgets, as you can see below the Download New Widgets now comes up blank. I assure you it was loading from kde-look before. Not only download new widgets but also with plasma themes so it isn't just focused on widgets. I don't mind not being able to download new widgets, but I can't even install from a file as that also causes it to lag when the file dialog opens and results in another crash. So is this some bug or something else, is there something I can try reinstalling to fix? A note I'm using 4.3. |

Can you reproduce under a new user?

Nope I can't reproduce on another user, does this mean that the problem lies in some kde configuration files such as .kde ?

Yes it does. To begin with, are you using a style other than Oxygen for System Settings > Appearence > Style?
Then try moving $(kde4-config --localprefix)/share/config/plasm* somewhere else while Plasma is not running. The following command will accomplish this.

I'm using Oxygen for my window style. Okay I did what you suggested and it made the backup. I killed plasma and then restarted it and I now have the default widgets and panel with the plasma theme Air. And the file dialogs now work.
Do I have to setup the way I want my desktop again, or is there another solution for me to fix it? Thanks anyways for getting it to work! I'm liking Air now as I look at it, I may stick with it rather than Glassified. |

Yes, you will need to resetup your configuration, since it appears your old one is corrupted.
