I do not see a "sort all" option on my KDE menu editor. I do not even see a sort option at all. I was hoping to be able to say, "right-click" on a sub-menu or the whole menu to sort items. Is there a cache file I could run the file through a sort program?

The menu editor manages the entire menu, and you can rearrange / sort items through its interface. Drag and drop rearranging on the menu itself is impossible at this time. There is no sort all option, it has to be done manually if you don't like the default, and there is no exact list you can just run through the sort tool either. this is to allow easier expansion of the menu and searching.

The addition of an automatic sorting system would be best done in the menu editor, with exposing of some of the menu editors functions via context menus on the actual menu, this way all menus benefit.

I done really expensive manual sorting and what is the result?!
The K-Menu classic shows items as i sorted them, but i don't use the K-Menu classic. The (better looking) new K-Menu and Lancelot don't give a **** about what i've done within menu-editor. It is really hard for me to understand (as a computer science student) why i should manually do something in a few minutes even if the computer would do it in a few seconds. Searching and sorting: that is what computers are for! But it is unbelievable that my work on sorting the items worth nothing because the menu does not care about what i've spent my costly time on. The GNOME desktop is not as pretty as KDE, but (mostly) it simply does what the user want it to do... (inline spell-checking in standard text editor for example) |

please guys, ask for these features on bugs.kde.org. that way you make sure that developers will see it. =)
p.s. inline spell checking is on by default. if it's not, look in your right click
