Something minor to disable

Wed Aug 26, 2009 4:03 pm
Hi all,

I've just upgraded from KDE 4.2.4 to 4.3, and I found some unexpected things. I'm using the "Desktop" type in Desktop settings, with a few Folder view widgets containing shortcuts spreaded on the screen.

First of all, icons have exclamation marks on them, and they go away only when I try to run them and being asked if I trust the program (I made the shortcuts so I obviously trust them). It's silly to start running all my shortcuts on the desktop just to take the marks out. Is there an option to disable that?

Secondly, I noticed that when I hover the mouse over a shortcut, a tooltip appears, showing the icon and the text. The shortcut is already made of an icon and some text, so it's redundant to show the icon and the text again. Though I think I like this for the folders.

Can these be disabled? I can obviously live with them, but they're kinda annoying.

Thanks!

Not as far as I know; this was introduced to make .desktop files safer. You can make all red !s go away by setting the desktop files as executable (select icons -> right click -> Properties -> Permissions -> check "Is Executable").

Can't be disabled at the moment, although I think I've seen a topic or bug report regarding this.
