I can not place a widget in an absolute border of my screen. If I try, it is moved to a certain distance from the border. And, if the widget is big enough, it will move other widgets even if they're are in other screen. I wonder if I can disable such behavior. I can not replicate my 4.1.x desktop :-(

This annoys me to. Hopefully it will be relatively trivial to write a simple containment that doesn't use this particular layout strategy :)

I get this as well.

It looks like plasma might be quietly crashing during logout.

is there anybody that can backtrace the crash? Then please do so and report at https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=168044

That bug is actually an unrelated one.

I will see if I can compile a custom containtment based on the default desktop.

EDIT:
Alright, I did it, I have disabled the layout functionality. It works when I set it in «desktop settings». But, when I restart plasma, the containment does not load (or crashes). Instead, the desktop is a non-functional grey space.

If someone is willing to help (or is interested in this containment) I´ll gladly post the source code.

Worthy double post.

I modified the default desktop containment to disable this behavior. If you can and would like to test it and submit some feedback please clone or download the repository at:

Do not fear, it will not eat your desktop. It will install a plug in named stupiddesktop so it will not conflict with KDE's default one.

Open Desktop settings and change it's type to Stupid Desktop.
