I decided to add a couple of extra plasmoids to my desktop to check out the ones that are available in 4.3.1.
Everything was normal when I did so, I added some, then removed some of them again, but kept a few. The day after, when I booted my laptop, the Folder view plasmoid that I use to display my documents folder and trash was empty. Just a spinning wheel. Also, the quick folder view was empty. And after several reboots, both are still empty. I tried creating a new folder view and got the same problem there. I tried changing the content/folder showing in the folder view. Same problem. So I am totally blank here - any ideas? The fact that I checked out some of the other plasmoids that day can be a total coincidense. So dont get to hung up on that. Is there a way to "reset" the folder view? Kubuntu 9.04, KDE 4.3.1, Dell XPS M1210. Have been working VERY well for a long time. I did no updates/upgrades the day this happened, so it has no relations to that.

Please check first whether your plasmoids are locked. If they are, unlock them. (right-click on the desktop > Unlock widgets). Your widgets should now sprout a 'handle' when you hover over them. The spanner, or wrench, icon is the configuration icon. Check that the path there is correct.
The spinner is usually a sign that it can't find the designated folder.

One additional comment:
If I try to specify a folder and click on browse, Nothing shows up in the pane where all the folders and files should show. I can click on any of the folders in the left side, but nothing shows in the main pane. If I open Dolphin from the K menu, it works without any problem. |

Then the only thing I can think of is that ~/.kde/share/config/plasma-appletsrc may have become corrupted. Try renaming it. You'll have to re-add your plasmoids, but hopefully this time they'll all work correctly.
