for some reason the home folder in plasma has disappeared and i cannot get it back is there some way to restart plasma to its original state or reinstall the folder

The "Home" folder is a Folder View plasmoid. To restore it, ensure the Desktop is unlocked ( Right click on Desktop > click Unlock desktop if present ), then Right click on the Desktop > Add Widget. Search for "Folder View" and drag and drop it to the Desktop.
