This is something I have noticed on my KDE implementations.

When a software update becomes available the Update Notifier is shown; first a space appears in the system tray and then there is a fairly long delay (approx. 60 seconds) before the icon is displayed.

I'm just curious, but why the delay between making space for the icon and displaying it?

Has anyone else seen this?

Note that this update notifier is Kubuntu specific.
