This issue existed in 9.04 for me as well as 9.10 now, but I figured it was a config file bug due to a distro upgrade and so I lived with it, however, I did 9.10 as a clean install and the problem still persists.

In short, the problem is setting each monitor's desktop background to Slideshow.

Here is the part of the plasma-desktop-appletsrc file:
Code: Select all
[Containments][30]
activity=Desktop
desktop=-1
formfactor=0
geometry=0,0,1440,900
immutability=1
location=0
plugin=desktop
screen=0
wallpaperplugin=image
wallpaperpluginmode=Slideshow
zvalue=0

[Containments][30][Wallpaper][image]
slideTimer=43200
slidepaths=/home/cpradio/Personal/DesktopWallpaper
userswallpapers=
wallpaper=/usr/share/wallpapers/Air
wallpapercolor=56,111,150
wallpaperposition=0

[Containments][31]
activity=Desktop
desktop=-1
formfactor=0
geometry=1446,0,1440,900
immutability=1
location=0
plugin=desktop
screen=1
wallpaperplugin=image
wallpaperpluginmode=Slideshow
zvalue=0

[Containments][31][Wallpaper][image]
slideTimer=43200
slidepaths=/home/cpradio/Personal/DesktopWallpaper
userswallpapers=
wallpaper=/usr/share/wallpapers/Air
wallpapercolor=56,111,150
wallpaperposition=0

When I logout and log back in, [Containments][30] does not load a desktop wallpaper. However, [Containments][31] does load a desktop wallpaper. If I right click on [Containments][30]'s background and select Desktop Settings, the settings are correct and as soon as I click OK, the desktop wallpaper loads.

Can anyone tell me why this is happening? I realize it is an extremely small issue, but it is annoying.

This definitely sounds like a bug in Plasma related to wallpaper handling.

As a test, try creating your multi wallpaper configuration under a new user, and see if you can reproduce. If you can, please file a bug.

Are there any logs that may be useful if I need to file a bug report, and is there any documentation to help me get those logs for you? I'm not new to command line interactions, but definitely new to filing bugs.
