I just upgraded to Kubuntu 9.10. The Systems settings page is missing a number of icon/tools including the "Panel" tool. When I minimize a window it sometimes doesn't show up in the panel/system tray and other times it shows up echoed numerous times. Anyone know how to gain access to panel settings?
Using the Panel Options>Panel Setting only brings up Panel Alignment and Visibility tools. |

I'm guessing by Panel Settings, you mean "Task Manager Settings".
When you have the Panel alignment and visibility options open, right click on the Windows area of your panel, and select "Task Manager Settings".

I clicked on Task Manager settings - but there doesn't seem to be an option that completely helps. Checking off on all three filters doesn't seem to help. E.G I only have one copy of Kmail opened and is "maximized" and showing on the desktop but the task bar still has 3 Kmail icons on it. If I click on any of the 3 it minimizes the Kmail window and puts a 4th icon on the task bar. Needless to say the task bar gets pretty crowded very quickly. .

Have you changed the window manager from KWin?

Then there is either something wrong with your installation, or with your configuration. This is certainly not normal. Also, you should bear in mind that some applications will have more than one taskbar entry - such as the kmail composer taskbar entry. This you should also control through the taskbar settings. If you choose these options you control your space: Only show tasks from the current desktop Grouping: by Program Name De-select Only when taskbar is full

As said, a screenshoot would help.

@wino_pilot: You need to use a site such as Imagebin, Omploader, etc. to post a screenshot. Just post the link to the image here.
