I am new to kde. I am running on Fedora 12, but experienced this issue in fedora 11 as well. I searched and didn't see an answer for my issue.
Basically any widget that requires an internet connection doesn't load when I log in. I have recreated this with several widgets, weather, wikiview. It takes a little bit for my internet connection to be established, which is what I am assuming is the problem. Is there a way to fix this? Also, one other issue I am having is with webpage widgets. Ones that are designed to show a webpage. When I enter the URL, nothing is loaded. Let me know of any information you may need to assist me. Thanks |

On my KDE Trunk system at least, the weather plasmoids seem to be partly aware of the network, and will refresh their status when the connection is activated. However they still try to connect initially.

Naturally anything that needs an Internet connection can't load until you have the connection. It's almost impossible, on most systems, to get that connection fast enough. It isn't a big deal, though, if you remember that clicking on any such plasmoid and then hitting F5, once the connection is established. will bring them to life. Some plasmoids do seem clever enough to do it without my aid, yawp and the social-desktop widgets, for instance, but my remote-drive folderviews always need a refresh like that.

My don't load even after the network has connected and considerable time has past.
I tried clicking on the plasmoids and hitting F5, but nothing happened. I tried both locked and unlocked. I click the reload button on the panel that appears when the widgets are unlocked, and that did do anything either. |

Which widgets in particular are giving you this problem?

I am experiencing the same issue on Fedora 12 (KDE 4.3.3). Both LCD weather and weather forecasts are not responding.
To be more precise: Setting up the widget is ok when done the first time. On second login it fails to load. Deleting the widget and resetting it after another login is ok. It works well though on OpenSUSE 11.2 (Kde 4.3.1) and Kubuntu 9.10 (both kde 4.3.2 and backported 4.3.4). Hope this helps. Paul |

I have the same problem on Kubuntu 9.10 (KDE 4.3.2), with any widget that connects to the internet.
