Hi,
I cannot figure out how to create a custom application launcher icon on the desktop. If I put a .desktop file in ~/Desktop as with 3.5 nothing appears. Nothing that I put in ~/Desktop appears on the true desktop. I can drag icons from the start menu to the desktop but there doesn't seem to be a "right-click create" option as in 3.5 for doing this. I need to be able to set env= and define paths etc in the launch argument. How am I supposed to do this in kde4.3. I have tried "Add Widget --> Application Launcher" but that is just adding the menu I already see from the "K" start menu to the desktop. I've been running kde since it's beta releases and this is just seem just way too confusing for what should be a very simple task >.< Please point me to clear doc on what I need to do or give me a quick write up reply. Thanks Chris |

You are after the "Folder View" containment.
Left click on the quarter circle in the top right corner, and select "Desktop Settings". If you do not see a section titled "Activity" which has a drop down labelled "Type" you may need to change to the side bar tab "Activity". From the "Type" drop down, select "Folder View". This should restore your traditional desktop.

There would also be the possibility to create an icon in the launcher via the menu-editor (richt-click on the launcher) and then drop it...
42: There is no other answer. There are only different ways to express it.
