Hello.
I'm using KDE 4.3.2 on Kubuntu Koala. In KDE 4(.3) each window has in its Alt + F3 menu a convenient menu item Opacity which enables us to set the transparency (inverse to opacity) of that window. Now I would like to set the opacity for plasma widgets that I place on my desktop. Please tell me how I can do that. Thank you. |

I would also like to know whether the same is possible for panels -- making the question general for plasmoids (widgets, panels etc) in general. I don't seem to see anything in the right-click menus of the plasmoids.

Plasma does not make this available as it is controlled on by the theme and widget, depending on the background specified by the widget, and the opacity of the theme SVG files.

Hm, doesn't the Konsole KPart already support transparency? At least you can have it in Yakuake.

As I said at https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=218947#c2 I don't see where Yakuake in KDE 4 supports the setting of translucency (or opacity, effectively the same thing).

It follows your profile settings.
Right click in the terminal part -> Edit Current Profile... -> Appearance -> Choose a color scheme with transparent background (or hit Edit... -> drag the "Background transparency" slider).

Great! Now closed the bug since now I get translucency in Yakuake, but somehow doing the same Edit Profile thing does not work for the http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/Pl ... ent=108120 plasmoid. Can you suggest how to get *that* working?

Sorry I don't know how that widget works. Does it follow your color schema at all? Maybe you can ask the author why transparency doesn't work.
