Hi,
since i updated my system(opensuse 11.2) from kde4.3 to kde4.4 the screen brightness button has disapeared. switching through some desktop themes didnt help. the functionality for changing the brightness should be ok, because when im playing with the mouse in the sliding area sometimes the brightness changes. Does anybody know this problem? Second, changing the brightness with the laptop hotkeys(Fn+F9/F10) didnt ever work(with ubuntu they work fine). since kde4.4 they are recognized but no reaction. i have looked into the system-settings but couldnt find a place to define shortcuts for brightness changing. It seems that kubuntu could do this brainstorm.php#idea84239. So is this a distribution specific problem? And will it become a default feature in future kde versions? Any help is welcome. kr odesu |

Brightness button? Can you please elaborate on what it did?
Brightness changing hotkeys usually change the brightness at the BIOS level.

Possibile, but doesnt work with kde. is there an easy way to define shortcuts for brightness regulation(with powerdevil) in kde? Thanks for reply, kr odesu |

Interesting, the slider is present on my trunk system. It could possibly be due to a lack of permissions why the slider isn't present.
This is most definiely related to the hot keys no longer working.
