Widget dasboard doesn't rise above the recently used window

Hi all,

Just upgraded from 4.3.5 to 4.4.0 (KUbuntu) and am loving it, great release!

One possible regression is with the Widget Dashboard plasma overlay. I have set this to activate when I move the mouse pointer to the top of the screen. I need quick access to plasma widgets? Simply slide the mouse up and it appears - nice!.

In 4.3 this used to work fine, now after the upgrade it only raises about all windows except the last window used. Problems:

- You need to click on the dashboard are to expose it fully.
- If the last active window is maximised to full screen then you won't see the dashboard at all which negates the reason for having a screen edge activate it.

Note, to reproduce this you need to have activated a window before you try to activate the widget dashboard. Ie, the first time. If you activate the widget dashboard by clicking on in and then mouse to the top again immediately after it WILL expose the dashboard as expected.

If this is a regression I will file a bug report.

Which window manager do you use? I believe Compiz causes problems with this.

Hmm... just tested it here and it works fine...

Does this affect any applications in particular? I tested with Firefox and Konsole.

Someone else had this problem and filed a bug if I remember correctly, you should be able to find it on bugs.kde.org.

Seems to affect all apps, even third-party ones like Skype. Just tested with FF and Konsole.

Okay, I can't find a report like it but if it doesn't get fixed in 4.4.1 I'll report it again.

I've got the same problem, also with KWin.

There are a couple of bug reports on it, all slightly different, but I believe this is the mama-bug: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=226281

Seems like some stuff of focus steeling prevention... which is part of the windows specific settings...

I created an entry for the dashboard which forces it to stay in foreground (and excludes it from being shown in the taskbar).

42: There is no other answer. There are only different ways to express it.

FYI, I upgraded to 4.4.1 and it's still the same.

As per the bug report comment, setting the "focus stealing prevention level" to "none" (System Settings - Window Behaviour) seems to have fixed the problem.
