In 4.4.1, the colors in the search fields in both Lancelot & "Add Widgets" dialog are not displaying properly with my plasma themes created in 4.3. Kickoff is unaffected. If you use "Tragedy" theme on 4.4.1 you can see what I'm talking about. Lancelot colors are messed up all the way around currently, but I have a fix in place for most of it. I just can't figure out where the search field is getting it's theme info from. And since the "Add Widget" dialog is doing the same thing, I'm guessing they are using the same info.
Could someone please tell me where these are getting their color info from now? I found no mention of this on the techbase. I'm trying to figure out if this is an intentional change, or if it's a kubuntu specific bug. I'm grateful for any info or suggestions. |

It is probable they both use new sections of the theme, and fallback to other more generic elements which do not work too well with that theme. I would suggest asking its author to release an update.

Oh. In this case I would recommend checking the default theme to see if any new elements have been added which may cover these areas. Otherwise, please ask on plasma-devel@kde.org, since this is clearly a regression, at least in that they forgot to update the Techbase documentation.

I guess I will try plasma-devel@kde.org.
I have looked at the default theme, but I didn't see any elements I thought were responsible, so I suspect it is controlled by a colors file, but I am uncertain whether it is the theme's or kde's. So I am not real excited about having to figure out which file, and which file entry by trial-and-error, just to make my themes work the way they have always worked before 4.4. I already did that back when I created these themes, and I'll be damned if I'm going to do it again! =) Anyways, I really do appreciate you taking the time to reply. Thanks! |

I figure I should update this thread with the solution just in case someone else encounters this issue.
Turns out I overlooked a new element in 4.4 named "lineedit.svgz" that is used to control text entry box graphics. This is indeed documented in the techbase. |

And I thank you for persevering and identifying the cause, and repackaging your Tragedy Plasma Theme. Tragedy 2.0.1 is on KDE-Look.org and I've got it installed, along with the Tragedy Windows Decorator Theme (Aurora Decoration Theme Engine). Lancelot now displays in all its Tragedy glory, all text is visible, and all is good with the world.
Tragedy 2.0.1. The best dark Plasma Theme I've come across.

@jmtodaro thanks for providing themes for Lancelot as well.
BTW, to imitate the forum staff, could you please mark this thread as SOLVED? Cheerio |
