Autohide sometimes breaks

Fri Apr 09, 2010 2:19 pm
I have an occasional problem with the panel Autohide feature. For some reason I can't decipher, the panel gets into a state in which it stubbornly remains hidden. Of course that means I can't switch desktops (except via Alt-Tab), access the Kicker, see my System Tray, or even turn off Autohide!

Has anyone seen this? Is there a way to force the panel to unhide itself?

You should be able to force it to unhide by running the following command in Konsole, which will restart Plasma.

Code: Select all
kquitapp plasma-desktop
sleep 15s
plasma-desktop &>/dev/null &

OK, I guess I'll box that up as a Shell script just in case, thanks.

I get this warning:
Code: Select all
Invalid D-BUS interface name 'org.kde.plasma-desktop.PlasmaApp' found while parsing introspection

It does seem to work though.

That warning can be safely ignored, and is caused by the "-" in plasma-desktop.
