Hi all,
I use a second video card (on a USB-->VGA adapter like the one shown here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6815118301 ). In other universes (like KDE 3.X or the present-time Gnome), a second desktop is started on the second screen when I login. However, with KDE 4.X this doesn't happen; all I get by default is a background and the ability to carry the mouse cursor over the edge and reach the second screen. I can use the 2nd display like this: DISPLAY=:0.1 konsole & but windows started like that don't fully work, for there is no window manager there. Things get better if I start kwin there, before starting other apps: DISPLAY=:0.1 kwin & Still, I don't have the plasma features there: alt-tab switching, keyboard shortcuts etc. My question is: is there a way to manually start plasma on the second display? Is there any way to configure X or KDE so that happens automagically? I did try enabling Xinerama, but then X doesn't start at all on either display. Also, xrandr doesn't see the second screen/display/whatever. For reference, this is Fedora 13 with KDE 4.4.3, on a laptop with Intel graphics chipset. Thanks, DF |

The issue in question is that xrandr does not see the second screen, thus KDE does not know about it at all.... Unfortunately there is no way to resolve this other than fixing that.
