I'm currently using KDE 4.4.3 with Slackware 13.1 and conky 1.8.0. I know conky isn't particularly KDE specific, but when I have conky setup for total transparency and click on the desktop, conky disappears! It's as if conky is getting covered by the desktop. I've done searches, but have found no real solution to this. I would like to keep the following option in conky as "own_window_type desktop" because that's the only way for me to get complete transparency with conky. As others have suggested changing this does fix it, however it no longer gives complete transparency. Has anyone gotten around this?

Try adding "own_window_argb_visual yes" With this and own_window_type set to normal and own_window_transparent set to yes I get full transparency and no problems.
