Hi, i don't have a shutdown button, what is the name of the widget to add one?

You should have a Lock/Logout widget available. Other alternatives include right-clicking on the desktop or using the logout tab in the start-menu.
OpenSUSE 11.4, 64-bit with KDE 4.6.4

yeh, i have a lock logout button, but i wish to have a shutdown/reboot button. gnome has one. i just dont want to run shutdown from the terminal everytime.

Lock/logout allows for restarting and shutting down. Click the red button, it will popup another set of buttons where you can then click either restart or shutdown. There is also the "shutup" widget that you can get from add widgets->Get new widgets->Download new plasma widgets. It provides buttons for directly shutting down or restarting.

hmm, that widget you suggested does not seem to work. i do not have kdm installed, i take it that is the source of the problem?

Yes. Shutdown/Reboot only work with KDM and certain versions of GDM.
connect(post, SIGNAL(readSignature()), qapp, SLOT(quit()));
