Hi, today I have upgraded my opensuse from 11.2 to 11.3, then upgraded kde from 4.4 to recent 4.5 beta (4.4.93) from KDE:Distro:Factory.
Now icons for notifications, network manager and power management plasmoids are gone - I can see only empty panel on the places where they should be located, but when I click on them, they work as they shood. Also icons for klipper, kmix systray items and for device notifier plasmoid are drawn in color (before that I had kde 4.5 betas on opensuse 11.2 and they all had monochromatic icons). So, I assume that monochromatic icons are missing in my system or plasma is not configured to use them. Is there a way to fix this? |

Please try removing /var/tmp/kdecache-$USER outside KDE.

today updated to rc2 (4.4.95), did not help. does anybody know at least the name of those icons so I could check if I have them on place?

The Monochromatic icons should be stored in $PREFIX/share/apps/desktoptheme/default/icons/
$PREFIX is normally /usr on a distribution installation of KDE.

I have "/usr/share/kde4/apps/desktoptheme/default/" directory and there is no "icons" subdirectory in it - only dirs with plasmoid names like "bubblemon", "rssnow" etc and "widgets" subdir with a number of svgz files inside.
"/usr/share/apps/" only contains 3 subfolders: "konqueror", "d3lphin" and "kstyle"; there is no "desktoptheme" there. I think I have installed all packages which could be found by "icons" and "desktoptheme" keywords in yast, can you please give me a name of at least one monochromatic icon file (for example for battery applet or for device notifier), so I could search the need package by exact criteria. |

"audio.svgz" or "nepomuk.svgz" should exist in the icons/ directory.

This names did not help - yast does not return any packages by such keywords.
Do you use openSuse? If yes, can you please check to which package those icons belong to with something like this: rpm -qf /usr/share/apps/desktoptheme/default/icons/wallet.svgz |

I have those icons:

Install the package kdebase4-runtime-branding-upstream. That solved the problem for me.

weird. I use KDE:Distro:Factory repository.
> rpm -qi kdebase4-runtime Name : kdebase4-runtime Version : 4.4.95 > rpm -ql kdebase4-runtime | grep default/icons returns nothing *** > rpm -qi kdebase4-runtime-branding-upstream Name : kdebase4-runtime-branding-upstream Version : 4.4.95 > rpm -ql kdebase4-runtime-branding-upstream /usr/share/doc/packages/kdebase4-runtime-branding-upstream /usr/share/doc/packages/kdebase4-runtime-branding-upstream/COPYING /usr/share/kde4/apps/desktoptheme/default/metadata.desktop and that's all, no icons. |

I had the same problem you are experiencing. I simply installed the package kde4-runtime-branding-upstream, after uninstalling kde4-runtime-branding-opensuse, and now I have the monochromatic icons in the system tray. I have a PC running openSuSE 11.3, with KDE 4.4.95 from the KDE:Distro:Factory repository, it seems the same configuration you have.

yes, I see that. I have installed all *-branding-upstream packages from this repository including kdebase4-runtime-branding-upstream (package kde4-runtime-branding-upstream does not exist) and this still did not help (and kdebase4-runtime-branding-upstream actually did not contain any icons inside), that's why this looks weird for me. thank's anyway, will wait for the next update, probably this would be somehow solved automatically. |
