Hello:
Here's my first post. I'm making an openSUSE-based distro. Here's my problem: I testdrive my distro, then change the theme, save plasmarc, etc... and add them into my distro. When building another time, the theme is there, but when installing new user doesn't have THAT theme. Is there away to set a global/default theme for KDE? If you solve this, you're my hero, really. I'm really bored on searching the solution. Many thanks. |

If I'm not mistaken, the default plasmarc* files are located in /etc/kde4/share/config.
The plasma-theme should be saved /usr/share/kde4/apps/desktoptheme (in its own folder of course).

Will try it! I was using /home's plasmarc. Many thanks! |

OK, no plasmarc files just kickoffrc, so now I'll be copying the ones from /home. |

That's weird. I have plasma-desktoprc and plasmarc there on a fresh install, but they're very basic. More basic than the default should be, so maybe its more to the default settings than that. Maybe a script to create the initial plasma-files (don't know where to look for that, if that's the case though). Still, even if it's only a matter of copying the files to the directories I mentioned: it will only work for a new user. A user who already has a plasma-config won't be affected. Another approach you may want to look into is to create a .kde4 directory in /etc/skel and populate it with the necessary files. That is, a .kde4/share/apps/desktoptheme/dir_with_theme_you_want and .kde4/share/config/ populated with the plasma* files. Note that this too only will affect new users.

Will try both. Many thanks. Can I link my distro's website? Just for you for checking it.

If you mean a specific forum-post or Novell bugzilla-report, by all means. Otherwise it won't mean much, especially since I too am using Suse although I've never tried to use Suse Studio (which I guess you're using to build your custom distro).

OK, so the theme + Bespin style works. The background & applet doesn't work though.
I added plasma-appletsrc or something like that (to /etc/skel) and don't works. HELP PLEASE! |

OK, I think I found the problem: appletsrc was in /, so now I moved it into /etc/skel/.kde4/share/config
Now building, hope this solves the problem. |
