Plasma widget stuck

Fri Sep 10, 2010 9:29 pm
I have two plasma widgets that are stuck. I think it was from downgrading kde 4.5.1 to 4.4.4. But either way, the microblogger is also stuck, so I just want to reset both widgets by deleting them first. But when I mouseover (widgets unlocked of course) nothing happens, no side panel or anything.

Also, when I click the "tool box" in the top right corner, and I moueover the selections, the clearish "select rectangle box" doesn't appear.

Note that downgrading generally isn't supported.
Have you confirmed that the Widgets aren't locked?

It is likely that your Plasma configuration is no longer compatible with your older system.
The only way to fix this is to upgrade to 4.5, or to delete your Plasma configuration files and reconfigure it.

The Plasma configuration files are stored at ~/.kde/share/config/plasma-*
Plasma should not be running when removing the config files.

Code: Select all
killall -9 plasma-desktop
mv $(kde4-config --localprefix)/share/config/plasma-* $HOME
plasma-desktop &
