newly installed plasmoids not showing

Tue Oct 05, 2010 11:23 am
Hi, I tried installing some plasmoids through the "download new widgets". It tells me they're installed, but when I look for them in the "add element" list they're not there. Anyone have an idea why?

I see I have the .plasmoid files in ~/.kde4/tmp-$HOSTNAME/, nowhere else though.

Wow. Trying to uninstall them actually hard-crashed my computer. Guess that's a sign I should just stay away from this plasmoid business.

When newly installed plasmoids do not show, you may refresh the list by using

Code: Select all
kbuildsycoca4

from the command line.

Plasma hard-crashing your computer would be unlikely. What distribution, KDE version, and graphics hardware are you using? Intel chipsets with certain hardware revisions are known to cause hardlocks on X.

Wow, that did the trick :-) There should be a "refresh list" button that does the same...

Newest release (Arch Linux), Radeon HD4200 with the open source drivers.
