I'm using KDE4.5.2 with openSUSE 11.3, Oxygen theme with desktop effects enabled on an Acer Revo R3610 (with ION chipset)

When I change display resolution to a larger size the panel doesn't automatically resize to fill the screen width. It worked fine in KDE4.4.4.

I have tried the Maximise Width setting in Panel settings but it doesn't remember it the next time the screen resolution is changed.

Is this a bug that has been reintroduced or have I missed a setting somewhere?

Did you check if the size handles (the two series of arrows that appear if you resize) are at the same position? One is for minimum size, the other for maximum.

No. I check clicked 'maximise panel' thinking it would be a setting that is remembered.

I'll check resize handles and report back.

Sorry for the long delay in reporting back. I'm still experiencing this problem. The resize handles are both in the same position and I pulled them right over to the right of the screen but after a screen resolution change (to a smaller resolution and then back) they stay at the smaller screen size setting and I have to pull them back over to the right.

This is also happening on my laptop running openSUSE 11.2 with KDE4.5.4.

Is anyone else seeing this problem?

Please ensure your panel controller looks something like this:

Yes that's exactly how it is. So with yours set like that if you change your screen resolution down to say 1024x768 and then back to 1280x1024 does your panel resize and maximise across the bottom to fill right across the screen? Mine will stay at the 1024 width and not go back to the 1280 width.

Yes, my panel automatically re-expanded here to the correct size. KDE 4.6 has fixes for this though I believe.

OK, thanks for verifying. I'll wait for KDE4.6 and see if it's fixed.

To me it looks like this is still not working.

I am running 1600x900 on my laptop display; when the laptop is in its docking station, the external displays goes with 1680x1050.

Just started the laptop in the docking station ... my bottom panel kept the old 1600 width; I had to go in and "maximize" manually. And I think the last time I went from "external" to internal display, I had to do the same ... as the widgets on the far right wouldnt show up.

Anyone knows if there is a bug entry for this?

EDIT: here it is: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=265051

Everybody who finds this behavior annoying: please go to that bug and vote for it.
