Hi everyone! this is my first post on this forum.
First of all i would like to say that i love kde, not only as a DE, but seen as a more complex integrated system! i love all the projects that have been growing up in these years, expecially under kde 4.x

Ok, after this brief introduction, i would like to ask you for help for a little problem.
I had a little problem with the dictionary plasmoid (which is really important to me) after the upgrade to kde 4.5.1, coming from 4.4.5. Now this plasmoid doesn't work anymore...and i don't know why, since everything else is working flawlessly.

PS: another little doubt; i also tried to switch the IM selection between XIM and ibus...which one is the "correct" one ? i don't remember which one was selected before my selection and, however, i haven't noticed any change. could you explain me what the difference is (or passing a link to me)?

Thank you in advance.

First of all, hi and welcome to the forums!

I tried the dictionary plasmoid in 4.5.2 and my build from trunk (development version) from a few days ago, and in neither case it worked. After entering text and pressing Enter, nothing happens - is it the same for you?

My guess is that there has been a regression. When searching on Bugzilla I found some similar bugs, but they had all been fixed. It would be nice if you could file a new bug report at http://bugs.kde.org.

Hi Hans and thank you for your answer! :)
Yes, it's exactly the same for me...i just type some word and push enter, as i've always used to do, but nothing comes from it! I'm sure it works without problem until 4.5.0 (in another installation).
I'd be happy to contribute to kdebugs, but i'm not at expert at all and i would not like to receive dozens of emails after my bug report...is there any other way, not involving emails, i could contribute?
Thanks

The best way is to report it to bugs.kde.org since that's the central place where developers can keep track of bugs. If you don't want to receive emails you can change your preferences: go to http://bugs.kde.org -> Log in -> Edit my Preferences -> Email Preferences -> set the settings as you want.

Also, if you post a bug report, please link to it in this topic. :)

Thanks for your contribution! Let's hope it'll be fixed in 4.5.3.

Good news, you don't need to wait for an upgrade to fix this - apparently it was just the website (http://dict.org) that was down.

It would be nice if the plasmoid could show an error when it can't fetch the data, but that would be another report (wishlist).

i didn't know the related website, so i couldn't check wether it was down or not.
Anyway, it's a very good news 8)
How can i change (or delete to make a new one) my old bug on kde bugs?Anyway, i'll try to modify it or making a new wish...

It's already been marked as a duplicate, so you don't need to worry about it. It would be nice if you could make a new report/wishlist regarding the thing I wrote about in my previous post (if it doesn't already exist) and, as usual, post the link here. :)

As for this forum topic you can mark it as solved if you want, as described here.
