Yes, I use proprietary nvidia drivers. The packages nvidia-common and nvidia-current are selected. I have the problem with main repository and backports if this matters.

$ plasma-desktop --version
Qt: 4.7.0 KDE: 4.5.4 (KDE 4.5.4) Plasma-Arbeitsfläche: 0.3 Thanks for your patience. These problems are hard to track down without error message. Just for demonstrative purposes... While I rearranged my desktop icons I made another observation. The square react on drag events, more precisely in some cases (the behavior is non deterministic) if i select an icon beneath the square the mouse cursor indicate a "must not drop here" event. |

Hello,
I also have this annoying transparent square appearing on my desktop though it doesn't appear at each login. I never managed to figure a pattern determining its appearance at login. As you may have noticed, it appears only when I move my cursor to the bottom of my screen to show the panel. For me, it all started when I moved from KDEmod 4.4 to the "regular" KDE 4.5 (like Arteal, I'm using Arch). I noticed that I could get rid of this transparent square temporarily (as long as I don't log off actually) by disabling then re-enabling desktop effects (via Alt + Shift + F12 shortcut) but still, I'm not satisfied. Any clue why this happens? Is there even a bug report about this issue? I couldn't find one (granted, I didn't look for it during hours). For a top-class DE such as KDE, this is very strange. Oh, and by the way, here's my software configuration: Distribution: Arch Video driver: nvidia (proprietary) 260.19.21 Qt: 4.7.1 KDE Development Platform: 4.5.4 (KDE 4.5.4) Plasma Workspace: 0.3 |
