Hello all,
i have written a kde plasma applet in c++ and i now i want to put it in a package so the user can install it via the plasma desktop. I read a lot on the internet and also found small pieces of documentation (http://community.kde.org/Plasma/Package) but i did not find any hint on installing shared libraries this way. Also i do not know what to set this veriable to in the metadata.desktop file
And finally i'm not sure, if this way of installing a plasma applet is not capable of native code applets, since there maybe problems running a x86 applet on a 64 bit system. I already packed my applet into a deb file, but i would prefer to install it via the plasma-desktop, that's why i'm asking. Can any one help me out with these questions? Many thanks in advance. Greetings, -chris- |

C++ applets should be distributed via *.deb files, so their dependencies can be installed by the package manager. I believe the *.plasmoid format is reserved for scripted applets.

bcooksley is correct. The .plasmoid format (basically a zipped directory structure) is used for scripted applets.
