Setting a default activity for new windows?

Just upgraded to 4.6 :) Awesome that window activity association now works, but it seems that the current default behaviour is to associate any new windows with the activity in which the window is first opened. I don't think it's a bad default, but it's not something I'm presently used to, so I've been looking all over for a way to have every new window associated with all activities by default, but I can't seem to find a way. Even the windows behaviour configs have no activity-related options.

Am I missing something that could help me here? Or is this something not possible for now?

It's not possible yet, AFAIK.

IIRC, that was introduced (by popular demand) in beta 2 to test whether users like it or not - and there was only a small number of users who complained so it remained this way.

For me, this feature doesn't do well with the activities as they used to be - groups of widgets on the desktop - but fits great with what the activities are going to be.

The plans for the future include:
- automatic assigning windows-activities when a window contains a document that is linked to an activity
- Alt F3 > advanced > special window/application settings
- (maybe) A KCM for setting the default behaviour

I like it very much as it is, but my general workflow so far means I most often want to associate a window with a certain activity. The special window settings sounds ok, but what about a simple thing like a option - "kmail --activity [all|name[,name,..]]"

It would probably be better to use kstart for that - then it would work for all applications. Mind filing a wish request at http://bugs.kde.org? ;)

Thanks for the response guys. Now I wonder if it might be possible to write a plasmoid or something that allows this (setting default activity). Need to check out that activity dataengine..

Great, thank you. If there's no response and it's not too hard to do, I might look into it.

@moofang It isn't possible. The plasmoid can get the list and switch activities, nothing more.
