I got a problem that is: my kde doesn't show a shutdown or restart icon, nor let me do it by hit crtl-alt-shift-pgdown (or up), doesn't recognise either the crtl-alt-bkspace for kill X... any idea how to enable all this?

Second question: how do I connect to my wireless without ask any pass (nor kdwallet or wlan) just gnome does?

Last question: can I run nautilus instead of dolphin? I tried but nautilus wasn't an option, only document view (?) and one other...

1. Which login manager do you use? I think you have to use KDM in order to get shutdown options.

Ctrl-Alt-Backspace to kill X depends on which Xorg version you use. You can try this: System Settings -> Input Devices -> (Keyboard ->) Advanced -> Key sequence to kill the X server -> check "Control + Alt + Backspace".

2. Depends on which network manager you use.

3. Yes, you can use it the same way as you do in GNOME. The default file manager can be configured in System Settings -> Default Applications -> File Manager.

The default Network Manager used by Kubuntu is KDE Network Management. In order to ensure it does not require entry of a password, you need to store your wireless network credentials in a passwordless wallet.

To do this, check your system tray for "KDE Wallet Manager", which may be hidden. If it is not present, run "KWalletManager" using KRunner. You should then be able to find it in the system tray.
Then right click on your wallet > Change Password. Enter nothing in the new password and confirm password fields and confirm your changes.

Please ensure that no sensitive credentials are stored in the wallet beforehand however, as they will now be easily accessible.

Was this originally installed as Kubuntu, or later changed to it through installation of kubuntu-desktop? By default, Kubuntu uses KDM I believe, so this should work.

You can try to run this command:

sudo dpkg-reconfigure kdm

and choose KDM in the menu. Restart your X server and see if it works.
