(First of all, I have to say I am unsure of the exact terms, since I have my desktop in French.)
Hello everyone ! I have a problem with activities at my work, where KDE 4.4.1 is installed. One of my activities is buggy: is is smaller than my screen, and it does not want to be deleted, which I would like to do. To delete it, I tried the shortcut (alt-d, alt-r) which worked for other activities, I tried to zoom out and unlock plasmoids, but unfortunately there was no option to delete it either. Since it is KDE 4.4.1 there is no "activities" panel from which I could try. Would anyone have any clue on how I could get rid of it ? Thanks a lot ! And sorry if it has been answered before, but since it is an old version of KDE it's hard to find ^^' PS : if it may be of any use, I am on Fedora 12, and I have not the root password (nor am I in the sudoers of course ^^)

can you (or whoever has the rights) update KDE? as 4.4.1 is real old and probably buggy
also if you're on Fedora, you should change your signature to show it, not Arch |

Thanks for the reply !
Unfortunately I work as a trainee only in a research institute, so I believe it won't be that easy to ask the rights, but I could give it a try … Anyway, I believe this activity is coded somewhere, there should be a way to get rid of it more easily By the way, I am on Fedora only at work, at home it remains Arch |

The config files should help you. Try poking in your .kde(or .kde4)/share/config directory - I don't however know where activity data was stored prior to 4.5.

they might be in ~/.kde4/share/apps/plasma-desktop/activities or ~/.kde/share/apps/plasma-desktop/activities

Indeed, thanks to you I found it in ~/.kde/share/config/plasma-dektop-appletsrc.
After identifying the "containments" number and deleting the parts corresponding it seems to work, I just hope not to have missed something Thanks a lot ! |
