how do I change the icon of link on desktop

I've created a link to a url with Dolphin. I've also set a custom icon.
When I drag it to plasma desktop the icon becomes a gear instead of the custom.
How do I change the icon?

This appears to be a bug in Plasma's handling of *.desktop files, as I managed to reproduce only when I specified a path to a icon. Please file a bug report at bugs.kde.org.

As a workaround, setting your Desktop as a Folder View may workaround this bug.
