I created a new activity and now want to move some of the plasmoids from the old activity to the new one. How can I do it?
I don't want to delete and re-create them, because there are lots of configurations I want to preserve. I'm using KDE 4.5.4 |

afaik you need to recreate them, there is no option to configure plasmoids to be seen in various activities BUT you can clone current activity in activities manager (think you need 4.6 for this)

I'm not sure how safe this is - very manual process, but outside of KDE (ensuring that plasma-desktop is not running), edit ~/.kde(4)/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc. Examine the various containments and applets to determine which applets you want to move to which containments, and merely change the containment number on those applets to the destination containment's number. It's very manual (you should make sure and back up the file before proceeding so you can always revert back), but it should preserve all of the settings.
I think it would be nice to have the ability to send a plasmoid to a different activity - brainstorm request?

This was possible before with the ZUI, but because of performance issues we have the new activity manager starting from 4.5.

The zooming user interface Plasma Desktop had before. http://userbase.kde.org/Plasma/FAQ/4.4# ... 8ZUI.29.3F

Thanks, I am using 4.5 and I found the "Clone current activities" option in the "New activity" button from activities manager. It solves my problem for now. |
