How do I adjust the screen brightness on a Fujitsu Amilo laptop?

- The keyboard shortcuts don't work [FN - F8/F9]
- I have tried adding the Nvidia Brightness widget on the desktop, but clicking on the + / - doesn't do anything
- I can go into NVIDIA X Server Settings and change the X Server Color Correction brightness setting, but the change isn't permanent

Please help!

What about the slider in the battery applet?

it is to the far left by default on all Profiles; makes no difference sliding it right or left

Time ago (one year maybe), I sent a bug against nvidia cards and brightness control (powerdevil) and i learned that when you have installed proprietary nvidia drivers, you cannot control brightness with fn keys nor most important, with powerdevil (battery control) and that is a nvidia's closed drivers problem. Instead of that, you can control it with nvidia-settings. With some nvidia drivers versions ago(i don't remember which),I realized when i change brightness setting with its software (or whatever), the brightness change, but when i restart the program , the numbers are in 0, but the brightness remains changed, so it works well for me.

About the OSD . I can see the osd, when i change the brightness with fn keys or battery, but that doesn´t work. You should be able to change brightness, contrast, gamma or whatever with nvidia-settings.
