I haven't used any desktop widgets/plasmoids for several months but today I tried adding the folder view widget to my desktop.
Last time I used it (months ago) it was a a simple square with the contents of a particular folder shown inside, much the same way as a "classic" desktop with icons. Well now when I add the widget, I get a gigantic folder and that's it. Just looks like a folder as seen when browsing in dolphin but it is huge and when I click on it, it pops up a menu showing the contents of the folder. So what happened to folder view? Is it a bug of some sort or has the behaviour now changed to what I am experiencing? I certainly hope not because it is plain awful. That's not the intended behavior unless you put it in a panel. Are you sure you added Folder View and not a similar widget, like Quick Access? Can you post a screenshot?

The top screenie shows it in it's just added state with the pop-up menu being shown in the second shot.
For comparison, I have added quick access to the desktop also so you can see the difference. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us |

That is not the default behavior. Try creating a new activity and adding there a folderview plasmoid.

Yes, that worked. Not sure why it's messed up but I'll see if it behaves this time |
