This is the situation: I just finished a clean (the whole disk formatted, no trace of previous configuration) openSUSE 11.4 (64 bits) install on my old machine. After everything was installed I started to customise the desktop... just to discover that I cannot add new activities. If I click on the plasma menu → Activities nothing happens.
Note, widgets are NOT locked: I added panels, plasmoids... everything BUT activities. Don't tell me I need to change repositories... Thanks!

don't think it will matter as it's a new install but can a new user add activities?
I assume kde 4.6.0, correct? you have/haven't changed any of the default kde repos? try reinstalling: kdebase4-workspace kdebase4-runtime |

No, just added "updated apps" and "extras".
I'll try later, thanks for the hint.

Ok.. that's weird... All of a sudden the desktop became white, I killed the session with Ctrl+Alt+BackSpace and on relogin I was able to create a new activity without problems... I'm starting to think on 4.6.2...
Kind of off-topic but... I'm not a friend of repository proliferation, do you think is it a good idea to use these repos? http://download.opensuse.org/repositori ... SUSE_11.4/ http://download.opensuse.org/repositori ... SUSE_11.4/ Thanks again!

Those are the current stable KDE4 release repos, most of the updates to 4.6.1 and 4.6.2 are bug fixes.
I run 'em and think that you're better off with them then with 4.6.0 |
