First, switching activities with key combinations. Can it actually be done? I can bring up the activity bar with Meta+Q and switch like that, but that's clunky as hell since it's a mixed keyboard/mouse action and covers up my bottom panel as well. Being able to bind activities to specific key combinations and use them to quickly switch between activities would do a lot to help me stop hating them.
Edit: rrix in #plasma suggested Meta+Tab to cycle activities (which doesn't seem to be listed in Plasma's shortcut window), which does help a lot. So the first part is half-fixed but cycling is still rather cumbersome when I'm on Web Browsing (third of seven activites) and I want to go to Irssi (first of seven activities). Second, how are activities ordered? Plasma has placed them in an order of sorts in the Activity Bar (and in the title bar menu) but I'd prefer to be able to reorder them myself to an ordering that makes sense to me, but I can't find any option to reorder them at all. Third, I still have I Hate The Cashew installed from way back. Now don't get me wrong, I still hate the cashew, still see no use for it, still see it as an ugly annoyance, and would prefer what little function it still has be moved somewhere else (possibly the desktop right-click menu with a fallback in System Settings) but that's not the point of this. I Hate The Cashew no longer hides the cashew and I'd like to remove it now, but Plasma seems to not have any way of removing non-visible plasmoids, which I Hate The Cashew innately is. So what is a foolproof way of removing any plasmoid?

If you uninstall the I Hate The Cashew plasmoid (and I agree, I'd like to be rid of it too), log out and log back in again, you'll see a generic plasmoid frame saying that it couldn't find the plasmoid, and this can be removed. I don't know of any other way of removing an invisible plasmoid.

I described a way to automatically assign numerical shortcuts to activities in my blog http://yadigaga.wordpress.com/2011/07/0 ... es-in-kde/ and also in the tutorial section viewtopic.php?f=14&t=95919.
Regarding the ordering of activities it is indeed a bit strange. My wish would be to be able to drag them to a new order in the activity bar as well as to move/add apps by dragging them onto the activity name. Does someone know where I can get the source code for the activity bar plasmoid? |

You can use Git to clone the project, but the easiest way is probably to use the website interface: https://projects.kde.org/projects/kde/k ... ctivitybar

The way activities get ordered is not clear to me either, and I would love to see a simple way to order them also. Dragging an activity in the activity bar would seem the most logical implementation.

A little late than expected, but now one question can be answered:
It can be done in 4.9, to be released in August or so.

Well that's great. With release freeze over by then, it shoudn't take the Debian KDE Maintainers more than two or three years to package it! </sarcasm>
No, but really, that is appreciated. It's been a very long time coming, but that's just going to make me more happy to see it.

I'm using Kubuntu 15.10 and I found through a lot of trouble that the activities are ordered alphabetically. So I use that to order them. Didn't find any other way.
