Right click the root window, select "activities". You get a list of activities currently available. You can add widgets or add activities but you cannot get rid of activities this way. Now that I know that I have a few dozen activities (all named "new activity"), how do I get rid of the old ones? The one I want to keep happens to be in the middle somewhere. ???

In the Activity Manager, click on the Stop button and then on the red cross like this.
